Sharing The Life
Austin was a loving son, brother, grandson, and dear friend to all he came across. Austin admired his sister Ashley and would move the world for her. He had many friends which he was known as “Sterny” to them. He was hard-working, kind-hearted, and went above & beyond with all that he did.
Growing up he loved Nemo, Cars (Lightning McQueen & Tow Mater), playing sports, going fishing, playing video games, and building Lego sets. He had an abundance of Lego sets and was the fastest builder you ever met. His favorite Lego build was a Ford Mustang that had doors that opened/closed. As he got older, he played competitive soccer (as an amazing goalie), football, golf, and found his love of cars. He loved working on cars, learning about cars, and figuring out how to fix them.
He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 2021 then attended Hawkeye Community College where he graduated with his Automotive Technology Degree. He was seeking a second degree in Auto Collision Technology and earned his degree posthumously with honors. He was an amazing mechanic and dreamed of having a "Shouse (shop/house)" of his own. Austin loved working at Iowa Auto Rebuilders and liked nothing more than to get his hands dirty. He could name the type of oil or year of any vehicle you pointed out.
He was in the best time of his life, finishing school, starting his career, and spending his free time doing what he loved. He was always eager to help those in need and was the life of the party. Austin knew how to make people smile, fill any silence, and always timed his jokes to make people laugh. Austin also liked to flip the bird but as a family joke. He had some sayings that he would continuously say and a couple of favorites are, “You can’t fix stupid” and “When there’s a will, there’s a way”.
In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, fishing, camping, golfing, playing video games, watching movies/TV shows, riding his motorcycle, and working on his Ford Ranger or his Dad's F250 truck. Austin also enjoyed traveling on vacations with his family and had been to 46 of the 50 states, the majority by vehicle. He also liked finding sunsets to take pictures of his vehicles. Austin loved his Carhartt black sweatshirts and American flag shirts worn with his jeans (with his pocket knife and flashlight), cowboy boots, and Snap-On cap, or occasionally with his Crocs.
Austin knew so many people and touched so many lives and he continues to make an impact on those around us. Austin’s parents and sister are beyond proud of all he accomplished and for the kind of person he was. Everyone he met was thankful to have met him and has great memories and stories to share. Austin’s life ended in a motorcycle accident close to home. His selflessness led him to his final act of kindness, being a tissue and eye donor to those in need.
